Syneron Acquires Primaeva Medical
Following the close of the transaction, Scafuri will remain CEO of the combined company and Gerard E. Puorro will join Syneron’s board of directors. The management team for the combined company will be comprised of executives from each organization.
Syneron Medical has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Primaeva Medical, a Pleasanton, California-based aesthetic technology firm and developer of a minimally invasive radiofrequency device for the treatment of skin wrinkles and laxity. The RF-based system, which has already received FDA approval for wrinkle treatment, employs a micro-needle array housed in an advanced, single-patient use applicator tip to deliver bi-polar fractional radiofrequency energy directly to the reticular dermis.
“The Primaeva system is a leap forward, utilizing fractionated RF technology to target the dermis in a selective and predictable manner. It has undergone rigorous scientific studies, with consistent physician and patient satisfaction,” said Syneron CEO Lou Scafuri. “The Primaeva acquisition adds to our platform of innovative products and is well suited for our dermatologist and plastic surgeon customers.”
