LRP Foundation Awards Research Grants
The LaRoche-Posay Foundation awarded two research grants at a gala dinner held during the American Academy of Dermatology meeting in San Francisco in March. The Foundation honors exceptional researchers in the field of dermatology. This year’s recipients were Adam Friedman, MD, of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine for his project, “In Vivo Analysis and Characterization of Sustained Release of Nitric Oxide from Hybrid Hydrogel-Glass Nanoparticles on Wound Healing.” The second grant was awarded to Angelique Gagne-Henley, MD (not pictured), Université Laval for her project, “Towards a Common Mechanism for Drug-Induced Cutaneous Hyperpigmentation.” The LRP Foundation is a multinational, nonprofit organization created in France in 1985.
Solta Launches New Facility
Solta Medical has announced the opening of the Solta Medical Aesthetic Center in Hayward, California. Anti-Aging Fellowship
The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine will offer The Aesthetic Anti-Aging Fellowship at the A4M World Congress in San Jose, California, on September 9-10. The Fellowship, which grants AMA/PRA Category 1 Credits and Level 4 certification in accordance with AMA guidelines for continuing medical education in new procedures and skills, is a six-part series consisting of a three-module lecture series and a three-module intensive hands-on clinical training series. Aesthetic treatments covered include botulinum toxin A injections, facial filler injections, aesthetic lasers and light, aesthetic venous treatments, body contouring techniques, chemical and mechanical resurfacing, and cosmeceutical additives. Requests for Cosmetic Procedures Shifting
In 2008, for the first time in 12 years, breast augmentation has surpassed liposuction as the most performed medical cosmetic procedure in the United States, according to new statistics released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Other statistics released show an 18% decline in cosmetic surgical procedures and a 22% decrease in nonsurgical procedures. Botox Cosmetic injections remained the most popular nonsurgical procedure for both men and women. Liposuction remained the most popular surgical procedure for men, but for women breast augmentation increased to surpass liposuction.
Syneron and the AAOCP Join Forces
Syneron has joined forces with the American Academy of Cosmetic Physicians (AAOCP) to offer training on its LipoLite and Laser LipoSculpture procedures to medical professionals. As part of the partnership, the AAOCP will train new Syneron LipoLite physicians and refer physicians to LipoLite as a preferred laser-assisted liposuction device. Syneron will offer all LipoLite customers complimentary membership into the AAOCP. Sesha Honored for Top Topical
Sesha Skin Therapy was awarded the prize for Topical Product of the Year at the Aesthetic Medicine Awards in Kensington, London, on February 7, 2009. The event took place during the Aesthetic Medicine Exhibition. Entrees were judged based on esthetic clinics satisfaction ratings. Clinics were asked to rate products on results, the company’s commitment to creating new product lines, product training, packaging and design.
