Accent System Receives FDA Clearance
Alma Lasers announced that it has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market the Accent Dual Mode RF System in the United States. Receiving its first FDA indication for the treatment of wrinkles and rhytids, the Accent system has been used successfully to treat a variety of dermatological and aesthetic conditions. Howard Kelly, CEO of Alma Lasers, noted, “The unique dual mode RF modalities of the Accent system will provide physicians with the most advanced technology available in noninvasive aesthetic medicine.” The Accent system combines two radio frequency modes into one device, and each mode is delivered by a discrete handpiece to enable volumetric RF thermotherapy at different tissue depths within the body.

Palomar Opens First International Office

Thermage Receives 510 (k) Clearance
Thermage announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration provided a first time ever 510 (k) clearance for the noninvasive treatment of periorbital wrinkles and rhytids, including upper and lower eyelids. Thermage’s proprietary ThermaCool System, utilizing customizable ThermaTip treatment tips, will officially be the only device in the noninvasive skin tightening category with this clearance. “Thermage is the first and only company to receive FDA clearance for noninvasive eyelid treatments,” said Steve J. DUSA Pharmaceuticals Elects CEO
DUSA Pharmaceuticals announced that Robert F. Doman, president and a member of the board of directors, was elected to the additional position of chief executive officer, reporting to the board of directors. D. Techno-Derm Acquires Exclusive Distribution
Techno-Derm has acquired the exclusive United States distribution of LPG Technologies from LPG Systems, France, and relocated the company’s corporate headquarters to a new facility in Miami, Florida. Techno-Derm will feature an expanded product line, enhanced customer service, increased marketing support and greater interdepartmental communications. Perlane Available Now
Medicis has begun shipping Perlane, the newest member of the Restylane family of hyaluronic acid dermal filler products, to physicians.
